Below is a listing of Sega cameos or references in
movies, television shows, books, songs, and such. If you know of one
that's not listed here, be sure to submit
it!
| W H E R E? |
D E S C R I P T I O N |
Black Mask
movie |
When the lead character ties up a woman, he
leaves Her with a Japanese Saturn. She plays a mean game of Darius
Gaiden with her hands tied behind her back. Just goes to show you how
great those Saturn pads are! |
Del The Funky Homosapien
musician (Hip Hop)
"Proto Culture" |
Lots of references to a childhood influenced by
Sega games up to Panzer Dragoon, Dreamcast, and such. His Sega
collection is "massive," or at least he says so. |
The Drew Carrey Show
tv show |
Drew's character had a Saturn in his living room
for a while, and then later upgraded to a Dreamcast. |
Josie and the Pussycats
movie |
Tons of Sega advertisements among the sea of ads
in this movie, some of them for Space Channel 5. The final scenes
of the movie take place in the Sega Megarena. (This place does not
exist in real life, though it ought to).
|
Mallrats
movie |
In an argument, Brodie's girlfriend complains of
lying in bed unfulfilled while Sega-boy plays video games. He is shown
playing NHL All-Star Hockey. He says "Hell hath no fury like a woman
scorned for Sega" and is later shunned by a girl calling him Sega-boy. |
Modern Marvels
documentary series
History of Video Games |
Of course this would include some Sega-related
stuff, duh. But I included this for a reason. The episode first aired
in 2000. It concludes with some warblings about PS2, but mostly focuses
the conclusion on Dreamcast. The end really goes on and on about how
great and revolutionary Shenmue is. |
The Simpsons
"That 90's Show" S19E11 |
A billboard with Sonic and Amy Rose appears in the background. |
The X-Files
tv show
Episode: "D.P.O." |
The subject of the episode and another person
argue over a Virtua Fighter 2 cabinet. The subject then murders the
other person and goes back to his game. The title of the episode is
taken from the subject's initials, which were found covering the VF2
rankings list. The music for Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic
the Hedgehog can also be heard rather prominently later in the episode.
Many other arcade games are seen in the background. |
